What you see in the pictures is a particular type of agate called "Iris Agate."
It's an agate in which colors are produced when light shines through it.
The rainbow of colors that you see is produced in this agate because the layers of agate were formed very close together. When light shines through this, it acts as a "diffraction grating", producing rainbow colors.
This is the same kind of process you get when you mist water into the air and the sun is just at a perfect angle.
Another example of this would be in a parking lot after it rains, and you see lots of colors on the puddles caused by thin layers of oil on the surface of the water.
