This is the second photobook by Jonas Bendiksen, a Norwegian photographer affiliated with Magnum Photos.
He began working on a project about the slums expanding in urban areas in 2005, and in this book, he photographed the four largest slums in the world: Nairobi, Kenya; Caracas, Venezuela; Mumbai, India; and Jakarta, Indonesia.
The center pages are gatefolds, showcasing the personal histories and diversity of the people living in these densely populated areas.
As a photojournalist, Bendiksen sought to capture the beautiful landscapes and the strong gazes of the residents, which stand in contrast to the harsh realities of the slums.

The book itself is old, so there may be some yellowing and staining.
